Job Overview:
Zion Cloud Solutions is seeking a Senior Google Cloud Architect to lead the design and implementation of Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) infrastructures, specifically focusing on building enterprise-grade landing zones. The role involves extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform s networking, security, and automation tools to create secure, compliant, and efficient cloud environments. The job is hands-on and requires leadership skills to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of Google Cloud Platform landing zones, including VPC configuration, hybrid connectivity, and cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Landing Zone Architecture: Designing and deploying multi-tenant landing zones, ensuring resource isolation and governance using Google Cloud Platform tools.
- Advanced Networking: Architecting VPC topologies, hybrid connectivity, and secure egress/ingress traffic.
- Security Hardening: Implementing advanced security measures including encryption, DDoS protection, and VPC Service Controls.
- Control Plane & Automation: Automating infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
- Cost Governance & Optimization: Implementing billing account management, optimizing costs through VM options, and ensuring resource efficiency.
- Technical Leadership: Leading architectural reviews, troubleshooting issues, and providing guidance on Google Cloud Platform best practices.
Qualifications:
- 7 years in cloud infrastructure engineering, with 3 years of experience architecting Google Cloud Platform environments.
- Expertise in Google Cloud Platform networking, Terraform, and security tools.
- Experience debugging network issues, managing hybrid setups, and securing multi-cloud environments.
- Fluency in scripting (Python, Go, Bash).
- Preferred Certifications: Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Network Engineer, Security Engineer, and HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, capable of leading complex technical discussions.
- Ability to lead under pressure and handle critical situations, such as misconfigurations affecting production systems.
Location & Availability:
- Hybrid model with regular in-office presence at Glenview, IL (2-3 days/week).
- Willingness to join on-call rotations or travel for client engagements (<20% travel).

Google Cloud Professional Certification Preferred.
