Education And Experience
- Illinois Public Educator License, General Administrative Endorsement, and Teacher Evaluator Designation required
- Undergrad degree in special education preferred, or a related services field (school psychology, school social work, etc.)
- Supervisory and/or leadership experience in special education programs including leading Section 504 meetings and/or IEP meetings
- Supervisory and/or leadership experience managing building level programming, parent concerns and student discipline
- Supervises and evaluates certified and support staff
- Enforces the district's personnel policies
- Participates in the recruitment, screening, hiring, assigning, and training of department personnel
- Assists with recommendations for tenure and dismissal
- Assists with coordination of contracted related service personnel
- Works with departmental staff to resolve student, staff and/or parent problems
- Engages in relevant curriculum planning and development
- Provides consultation and leadership regarding health and safety assessments of students
- Maintains administrative records;prepares reports and correspondence
- Supervises special education compliance
- Attends relevant school, district, and professional meetings
- Participates in activities for continued professional growth
- Supervises Special Education department events
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director
