Overview
The Faith Formation Coordinator serves as the administrative and driving force behind Zion’s faith formation activities. This person will work with congregation volunteers and staff to create and implement programming that honors Zion’s core convictions and mission. The primary audience of this part-time position is youth and families ages birth-6th grade on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, with supportive attention to confirmation aged youth 7th-9th grade. This position requires a desire to extend the ministry of Zion through faith formation, a commitment to Zion’s core convictions and mission, strong organizational and communication skills, an ability to engage with youth and volunteers, and familiarity with Microsoft Office software. This position reports to the pastor for programmatic purposes and the church administrator for administrative and logistic purposes.
Specific responsibilities:
· Organize and administer student registration, develop curriculum, recruit teachers/helpers, set up supplies for Sunday School and Wednesday evening activities
· Coordinate special events: Day Camp, Old Fashioned Christmas, Fundraising, Rally Day, Christmas Program
· Work with Faith Formation Team in determining direction, setting annual schedule, planning and implementing activities, and recruiting volunteers for faith formation activities
· Steer Faith Formation Team in developing monthly meeting agenda, co-manage youth checking accounts
· Communicate about faith formation activities with families and congregation via website, email, social media, bulletin boards
· Serve as liaison between faith formation and other Zion ministries in coordinating events, messaging, space and resources
· Maintain Faith Formation page on Zion Website and social media sites
· Track, order and maintain supplies for faith formation use and faith formation special events
· Assist pastor with Confirmation programming as needed
This position could be divided into smaller segments for interested candidates. Wednesday evening activities, Sunday morning activities and other events could be handled individually.
There are also additional staffing needs that could be included in this position with additional hours, per skills and interests:
· Coordinate middle school and high school youth small and large group development
· Work with older youth and their families to develop resources and opportunities to meet their self-identified needs within Zion’s mission
· Wednesday evening development
· On-site technology support on Sunday mornings and volunteer training and coordination
· Kids of the Kingdom Childcare Christian education liaison
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.25 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 25 per week
