Our Data Engineering & Technology Strategy team is currently looking for an experience Software Engineer. This Software Engineer will be an integral part of the team and will help establish and implement migration patterns for our Data Lake Modernization project.
Responsibilities:
- Play key role in establishing and implementing migration patterns for the Data Lake Modernization project.
- Actively migrate use cases from our on-premises Data Lake to Databricks on Google Cloud Platform.
- Collaborate with Product Management and business partners to understand use case requirements and reporting.
- Adhere to internal development best practices/lifecycle (e.g. Testing, Code Reviews, CI/CD, Documentation).
- Document and showcase feature designs/workflows.
- Participate in team meetings and discussions around product development.
- Stay up to date on industry latest industry trends and design patterns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 4 years. Development experience with Spark (PySpark), Python and SQL.
- Extensive knowledge building data pipelines.
- Direct experience with Databricks.
- Experience with Git.
- Experience developing on Linux OS.
- Experience with scheduling and orchestration (e.g. airflow, prefect, dagster, control-m).
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, data structures, design principles.
- Comfortable communicating with teams via showcases/demos.
- Agile Development Methodologies (e.g. SAFe, Kanban, Scrum).
- Requires a bachelor s in computer science, Computer Engineering, Math or equivalent and 6 yrs of experience in modern programming languages, building APIs and services, orchestrating applications, build automation technologies or other directly related experience.
- A combination of education and experience may meet job requirements.
Plus:
- 3 years experience with GIT.
- 3 years experience with CI/CD (e.g. Azure Pipelines).
- Experience with streaming technologies, such as Kafka, Spark.
- Experience building applications on Docker and Kubernetes.
- Cloud experience (e.g. Azure, Google).

This Data Engineer position is currently not eligible for employment visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B visa). This includes, for example, situations where a candidate may have temporary work authorization while enrolled in school or upon graduation (e.g., CPT, OPT) but would need H-1B visa sponsorship within a few years of employment in order to maintain employment eligibility.
Location:
This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office at the new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.
