RESPONSIBILITIES
Expeditors act as liaisons between the kitchen and wait staff to ensure a steady flow throughout the various departments of a restaurant. The expeditor position provides courteous and efficient guest service throughout the duration of the guest’s dining experience in the restaurant by facilitating kitchen orders, maintaining quality control, and monitoring food safety. As a food expeditor, you possess excellent communication skills and a calm demeanor in a busy restaurant setting. You must have enough stamina to be in constant motion and skills to coordinate and organize processes and people.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Monitors, coordinates and organizes guests' orders for delivery to ensure order accuracy, food quality and speed of service.
- Process orders quickly and accurately. Ensures that no orders are lost, forgotten, or delayed. Ensures orders are being prepared in the correct priority.
- Ensures all items leaving the kitchen are to company standards. Expeditors are the final check for food quality.
- Maintains a constant flow of communication with the servers, kitchen staff and keeps servers informed of their order status.
- Assist servers in delivering food to guests and handle/relay any complaints or request to servers and kitchen staff
- Maintains an organized, safe and sanitary work area.
- Completes and side duties and restocks prior to the end of shift.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Scheduling:
- Meets assigned shift requirements.
Physical Activity:
- Regularly push, pull, and carry objects.
- Stand and walk on foot for at least 6-8 hours.
- Reach at shoulder level and below waist constantly, above head occasionally.
- Bending downward or forward at waist or knees occasionally.
- Talk and listen to communicate instructions.
Physical Requirements:
- Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
Visual Requirements:
- Able to visualize accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Must pass drug screening test
- Must pass pre-employment background check
- Current Food Handler’s Certification Card issued by the Southern Nevada Health District
Environmental Conditions:
- Works in an air-conditioned environment.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- Previous restaurant or food handling experience.
Necessary Skills:
- Basic math and writing.
- Able to interact with guests and co-workers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Possess problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending the English language.
Necessary Attributes:
- Trustworthy with company property.
- Enjoys multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Punctual and dependable.
