The Role

As VP of Technology, you will architect and scale the core home lending and servicing platform that underpins Zippy’s mission to transform financing for manufactured homes. You will apply your expertise in mortgage lending technology to drive high-impact initiatives from day one, accelerating product delivery and pushing the boundaries of innovation. This role is critical to expanding our tech foundation, driving AI/LLM (large language model) integration, and future-proofing our capabilities as we enter new sales channels and business units.

Reporting directly to the President, you will partner closely with the VP of Product to align roadmaps, accelerate development, and optimize user experiences. Your mandate is to build a cohesive, secure, and scalable platform that streamlines home lending, servicing and future platforms, while continuously adapting to evolving AI and ML-driven technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Technology Leadership
• Define and execute a long-term technology strategy that meets Zippy’s growth objectives, with an emphasis on mortgage-lending workflows, AI-driven innovation, and platform scalability.
• Champion a vision that aligns technology, data, and security best practices to deliver a seamless borrower experience.
• Engineering Execution & Delivery
• Partner closely with Product to turn the roadmap into a clear engineering execution plan, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery.
• Drive execution excellence by establishing scalable processes, optimizing engineering velocity, and balancing speed with technical health.
• Foster a strong product-engineering partnership, ensuring seamless collaboration, iteration, and alignment on business goals.
• Home Lending Platform Development
• Oversee end-to-end architecture, implementation, and enhancement of core lending and servicing platforms for manufactured housing.
• Drive speed-to-market for new home lending functionalities, ensuring regulatory compliance, robust underwriting capabilities, and efficient servicing tools.
• AI & Emerging Technologies
• Harness AI to enhance engineering efficiency and innovation, integrating the latest AI coding tools to accelerate development while maintaining quality.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies, continuously evaluating AI/LLM/ML advancements that drive innovation in lending, including underwriting, borrower, and operational workflows.
• Partner with Product to define and execute Zippy’s AI strategy and develop predictive models, natural language processing features, and automation tools that reduce manual tasks.
• Team Management & Development
• Build, mentor, and retain a top-performing engineering organization; foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Set clear objectives ensuring team effectiveness and alignment with broader company goals.
• Operational Efficiency & Innovation
• Drive engineering excellence by adopting agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and best-in-class tools to drive efficiency in development cycles and production deployments.
• Ensure platform stability and scalability, proactively optimizing infrastructure, monitoring system health, and minimizing downtime as Zippy grows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to ensure smooth data flows, enhanced system resilience, and proactive issue resolution that minimize downtime and costs.
• Cross-Functional Alignment
• Work hand-in-hand with the VP of Product to translate user needs, market insights, and business priorities into clear technology roadmaps.
• Coordinate with Sales, Fulfillment, and Finance teams to deliver a frictionless borrower journey and timely data for decision-making.
• Security & Compliance
• Implement and maintain rigorous security protocols, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and industry standards in mortgage lending and data privacy.
• Stay abreast of emerging threats, proactively updating systems, policies, and controls to mitigate risk.
• Financial & Operational Oversight
• Own the technology budget and resource allocation, balancing innovation with ROI to maximize business impact.
• Develop reliable forecasts, KPIs, and performance metrics that provide visibility into technology costs, project timelines, and product efficacy.
  
  

About You

Experience & Expertise

• 5–10 years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a strong track record in the mortgage or broader fintech domain.
• Proven success in building and scaling lending platforms (e.g., LOS, servicing systems, marketplace), ideally within regulated financial services.
• Deep familiarity with AI/ML solutions (including LLMs) and their practical applications in automating underwriting, loan servicing, related processes and future platforms.

• Strong people leader who excels at setting strategic vision, hiring top talent, and creating an environment of ownership and high performance.
• Highly metrics-driven; you establish clear KPIs for engineering velocity, system uptime, and feature adoption, holding teams accountable.
• Ability to work with limited oversight—comfortable making critical decisions and managing the day-to-day technology function.

• Expertise in modern software architectures, microservices, and cloud platforms, with a solid grasp of best practices in data security, compliance, and DevOps.
• Experienced in building or integrating AI/ML pipelines; you can guide data scientists and engineers in model deployment and continuous training.
