Responsibilities:
• Develops and designs product specifications and test procedures, responsible for the testing and evaluation of assigned products.
• Independently prepares engineering documentation such as Engineering Change Notices and 2D drawings.
• Collaborates with purchasing teams to provide engineering approval process for changes in product materials or vendors, including alternative vendors.
• Follows APQP for new product development, offering guidance to others on its effective implementation.
• Directs the creation of 2D drawings and 3D solid models from physical parts, reviewing the vendor and CAD personnel designs to ensure quality and consistency. Holds accountability for the final design outputs and keeps management informed of project progress and challenges.
• Lead vendor communication related to design issues, ensuring effective resolution and alignment with product requirements.
• Takes ownership in design reviews and facilitate team project discussions to ensure design alignment and timely decision-making.
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of part interactions and environmental factors.
• Applies knowledge of material properties and manufacturing processes to new product design.
• Guides production teams and vendors in the construction and assembly techniques of parts, driving improvement in cost, quality, and performance.
• Utilizes advanced thermodynamics knowledge to assess and mitigate risks related to thermal shock in design structures, materials, and shapes, preventing failure modes.
• Applies understanding of high voltage dielectric strength and impact of corona on materials to eliminate failure modes before they occur.
• Understand ignition coil primary and secondary electrical circuits as well as ignition module operation.
• Proficient in using SolidWorks 3D CAD software for assembly level design.
• Works collaboratively with team members, prioritizing tasks and meeting established deadlines, while remaining adaptable to shifting project priorities.
• Apply advanced computer skills including data analysis, modeling, simulation and problem-solving to eliminate failure modes before they occur.
• Supports client in new product development initiatives to ensure project success.
• Coordinates with global client teams to implement process improvements and design changes, contributing to the achievement of company goals.
• Actively participates in client teams for technical projects to reach defined goals.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
• Committed to maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures which include IATF, ISO, ISMS, TISAX, QMS, J-Sox and Safety related policies.
Requirements:
• In-depth understanding of ignition coil and coil operation, including theoretical principles and practical applications
• Advanced knowledge of ignition coil industry standards, specifications and testing methodology
• Comprehensive expertise in automotive technologies, particularly in powertrain and emissions systems
• Strong knowledge of all key areas relevant to clients products, including materials, manufacturing processes, system integration, and quality functions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
• Demonstrated project management skills, with experience managing cross-functional projects and deadlines
• Ability to work effectively in a team
• Proficiency in MS Office & Google Workspace
• A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
