Zocalo Coffee is in search of a Roastery Support role to assist our Roaster Manager with production and wholesale needs.
Zocalo Coffee is a community-focused coffeehouse and roastery in San Leandro, California. Women-owned and operated, we strive to hold the door open and create a space for those who walk through to be in community with one another. We source our coffees from small farms and organized cooperatives that emphasize creating equitable opportunities, sustainable and traceable commerce, and environmentally conscious purchasing choices.
This role will facilitate meeting weekly production goals and maintaining current and future wholesale accounts. The Roastery Support will work closely with the Roaster Manager to learn our products/services in order to communicate and build lasting relationships with our wholesale clients through excellent customer service and product fulfillment.
Our ideal candidate will prioritize accountability, consistency, teamwork, and communication in facilitating warehouse operations and customer accounts. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with Roaster Manager to develop knowledge of the wholesale menu, participate in coffee quality control and build coffee tasting palette
- Work as a team to maintain production reserves
- Weigh, package, seal, and label wholesale and retail coffee correctly & efficiently
- Maintain wholesale accounts through product delivery, rotation, and equipment upkeep
- Safely operate company vehicle for deliveries, equipment installs, and shopping
- Provide excellent customer service in onsite/remote interactions, including customer engagement and problem resolution
- Take regular and accurate counts and quality control checks
- Organize and maintain warehoused product to the requirements including but not limited to, Roastery cleaning duties, rotating stock according to FIFO, and any other tasks to maintain an orderly warehouse
- Additional duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by management
Work Experience:
- Client-facing customer service experience preferred
- Warehouse fulfillment experience preferred
- Coffee experience preferred

This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, and driving throughout the shift. The employee must frequently lift, push, pull or move products, equipment, and supplies weighing 50 lbs or more. This position requires sensory analysis (taste, smell, and/or visual) and employees must maintain a neutral scent.
This position is 50% inside our warehouse and 50% driving to/servicing customer sites. Sites range from restaurant coffee bars and office break rooms. We primarily work out of Alameda county but also service locations in Placer, Yolo, and Contra Costa counties. The anticipated shifts are Monday through Friday, with potential for weekend/holiday shifts depending on production deadlines or special events.

- Expected Hours between 9:00 am - 5:30 pm
- $18 /hour
- 50% Health, vision, dental insurance after 60 days
