Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and performing suctioning as needed.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure to prevent infection.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure efficient workflow and patient safety.
- Collect data during surgeries for documentation and quality assurance purposes.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and assist in maintaining their comfort before, during, and after surgery.
- Participate in the cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments post-procedure.
- Stay updated on best practices in surgical technology and participate in ongoing education.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and surgical systems is essential for effective assistance during procedures.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment in the operating room (OR).
- Experience working in a hospital setting or an ambulatory surgery center is preferred.
