Job Title: Patient Access Representative
Location: 830 Boylston Street, Suite 106, Chestnut Hill, MA
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Position Summary:
The Patient Access Representative plays a critical role in the patient experience by efficiently managing the patient registration process and ensuring all necessary documentation and information are accurate and up-to-date. You will be responsible for greeting patients, handling admissions, answering phone inquiries, and promoting a positive customer service atmosphere.
Principal Functions:
- Patient Reception & Customer Service: Greet patients and the public, determine the appropriate service area, and provide location information to family members, doctors, hospital staff, and others. Promote a positive and helpful customer service atmosphere.
- Registration Process: Pre-register or pre-admit patients in the computer system from booking forms. Obtain and enter required patient information, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and third-party mandates regarding service utilization and managed care.
- Dissemination of Patient Rights: Ensure that all patients receive information regarding their rights as a patient (both verbally and in writing). Ensure that Advance Directives are communicated and documented in patient records.
- Urgent & Emergency Admissions: Handle urgent and emergency admissions, recording and processing patient information efficiently. Ensure the proper documentation is attached to the patient’s chart.
- Miscellaneous Tasks: Perform other related duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate (two years post high school preferred).
- At least one year of related experience in healthcare or customer service.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in typing, word processing, and computer systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Experience with EPIC software is required.
Additional Requirements:
- COVID-19 Vaccination & Booster: Must be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccination, including booster
- 2024-2025 Flu Vaccine: Flu vaccine is required (declinations not accepted).
