Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting medical staff and ensuring the comfort and safety of patients. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and the ability to assist in various clinical settings, including but not limited to hospitals, PICUs, and emergency medicine environments.
Duties
- Assist healthcare professionals in providing patient care, including monitoring vital signs and documenting patient information.
- Support patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring they are comfortable and informed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Utilize hospital systems for scheduling appointments, managing records, and coding for services rendered.
- Collaborate with medical staff in various specialties such as Dermatology and Internal Medicine to facilitate patient care.
- Provide basic life support when necessary and assist in emergency situations.
Experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred; familiarity with X-Ray procedures is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is essential for effective communication within the team.
- Experience or training in Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is highly desirable.
- Exposure to pediatric intensive care units (PICU) or emergency medicine environments will be beneficial.
- Proficiency in coding systems used within healthcare settings is an advantage.
