Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients' conditions, including vital signs and symptoms.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health management and recovery processes.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care effectively.
- Assist in airway management, basic life support, and other emergency procedures as necessary.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices in nursing.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of ICU protocols and procedures, including DME (Durable Medical Equipment) usage.
- Familiarity with operating room (OR) standards and practices.
- Proficiency in coding systems such as ICD-9 for accurate documentation.
- Experience working in a Level I Trauma Center or teaching hospital is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced certifications are a plus.
- Competence in airway management techniques.
- Experience in pediatric intensive care (PICU) is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
