What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer/Planner position at Zoetis?
Position Summary:
The Buyer/Planner position supports the Materials Management Team by placing purchase orders for production by monitoring the customer demand, creating and releasing orders, ensuring the timely receipt of the order, and supporting the replenishment process. This role conducts all activities and makes decisions that are in accordance with company policies & SOPs, Zoetis values, & global regulatory guidelines (including cGMP/cGLP/cGCP), environmental guidelines, as appropriate, etc.
Position Responsibilities:
- Create purchase orders according to system demands.
- Monitor system demands and communicate supply availability with internal and external customers. Troubleshoot any anomalies (e.g., trends) and work with team members to determine how to address them.
- Run inventory reports and prepare days on hand reports.
- Participate in OpEx projects.
- Ensure the timely release of batches through coordination with Quality, and other departments (e.g., tracking and assisting prioritization of Event Tracking System closure).
- Support unplanned event management (e.g., events that affect material flow across two or more rhythm cycles).
- Arrange for proper monitoring and follow up to assure timely disposition of all slow moving, obsolete, damaged and other unusable materials in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Manage proper inventory controls within the plant to ensure accuracy of perpetual inventories for all Charles City operations. Take corrective action on those items that are not within established inventory levels.
- Actively participate in annual budget process and well as quarterly Latest Estimates.
- Closely follow-up on distressed inventory (DI) and assure an efficient process to reduce the "in process" DI. Evaluate and manage Quarantine & "on hold" inventories and provide tools & follow up to reduce them.
Education and Experience:
- BA/BS with 2-4 years of experience OR MBA/MS with 0-2 years of experience OR Minimum of 8 years relevant experience. Bachelor's Degree in Supply Management, Engineering, Management Information Science, Business or related business/technical field.
- Experience in materials planning and/or production scheduling.
- Experience with Purchasing/Materials Requirements Planning Systems (MRP).
- Strong analytical/problem resolution skills.
- Knowledge of product flow through Manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing facilities and equipment capabilities and constraints.
- Knowledge and understanding of MPS, MRP, and inventory management principles.
- Proficient math skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Extensive computer work is necessary for this position.
- Long periods of sitting may be required.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to reach above shoulder level, bend/stoop, kneel, push/pull, and handle/grip frequently.
- Must be able to work scheduled 40 hours with the ability to work overtime as needed.
- Regular reaching, bending, stooping, and twisting.
- Repetitive motion and substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
