Summary: Provide regularly scheduled activities in a non-residential setting that are designed to foster the acquisition of skills, build positive social behavior and interpersonal competence, foster greater independence and personal choice as part of the person centered team. Career planning or pre-vocational activities to develop learning opportunities and career options based on the individuals interests and skill set.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Other related duties may be assigned.

  • Facilitate skill development to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and customers.
  • Model and coach to encourage generally accepted community or workplace conduct and dress.
  • Complete all Medicaid required documentation including daily notes and monthly summaries per the regulation requirements. Maintain all other Zoom Group required documents.
  • If required, provide physical care and assistance to Team Members in performing daily life activities. Administers medication to Team Members when applicable.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment for Team Members, discuss general workplace safety.
  • Active training in workplace/program problem solving skills and strategies.
  • Active training in acquiring skills to follow directions, complete or attend to tasks and mobility training if applicable.
  • Assist Team Members in performing work and staying actively engaged in the laundry facility; perform work in the laundry facility per scope of work below:
  • Sort soiled laundry, prepare for cleaning.
  • Operate towel, sheet, and pillow case washing machines.
  • Operate laundry dryers; hang dry sheets, sleepwear/hospital gowns.
  • Fold and stack thermal blankets, linens, sheets, pillow cases, and sleepwear/hospital gowns.
  • Sort and ship completed laundry orders to customer.
  • Check laundry machines to ensure they are turned on and operating properly.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and a minimum of 6 months experience working in a commercial laundry facility. Prior experience working with developmentally challenged adults a plus. Equivalent combination of education, training, skills, and experience may be considered.

Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills - Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers, and multiply and divide with 10s and 100s; ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement and volume.

Reasoning Skills - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one, or two-step instructions; ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Licenses/Certifications - CPR certification; Safety and First Aid

Computer Skills - Requires ability to use Word processing to create and complete routine reports; and to use Access database software to enter and track data.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and color vision.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
