Job Summary:
The Blender Lead is responsible for assisting with the supervision of the day-to-day manufacturing of products through the crew. Provides daily direction of the team for the assigned work blends to ensure the proper flow of product through to finished goods distribution. Serves as a complete team supervisor for assignments, discipline, and in the supervisor’s absence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A Blender Lead is expected to perform one or more of the following essential job functions based on the business assignment (detailed):
- Responsible party in supporting the food safety culture of the company.
- Responsible for the accuracy of the daily production paperwork and resolving questions from other departments.
- Motivate, lead, gather, and understand information provided by all levels of workers.
- Able to understand, follow, and coach employee Safety Policies, Quality Regulations, and Allergen procedures (where applicable).
- Keep the work area clean and secure, without obstructions for regular transit and/or access to the workplace.
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes and develop them into more efficient and valuable parts of the overall operation.
- Carry out all Blending group-related duties as requested promptly and accurately.
- Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of the Blending process.
- Implement the job assignment promptly to run the product expeditiously without compromising food safety and quality.
- Adhere to all existing policies and procedures, including the timeclock system, safety, and good manufacturing practices.
- Responsible for actively supervising the team members, including assisting with cross-training, new-hire mentor assignments, and process support during breaks, meal periods, and other staff coverage as needed.
- Responsible for effective shift start-up and end, and daily operation of the assigned process to ensure the designated volume and/or mix is properly released to the production floor.
- Manage complaints and recalls with the supply chain team.
- Manage and Create the Paylocity Schedule.
- Open and close and finalize Blend orders.
- Manage Inventory of Ingredients in the warehouse.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities / Qualifications:
- Must have a ZoRoCo forklift driver certification.
- Positive attitude, work ethic and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management and coworkers.
- Must be able to understand, follow and/or give oral and write instructions in English and/or Spanish.
- Able to multi-task in a fast-paced production environment.
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds unassisted.
- Strong technical understanding of OSHA, mechanical equipment, and the ability to understand mechanical processes and equipment constraints.
- Ability to understand and teach complex assignments to the crew.
- Ability to take direction from superiors and perform tasks without constant direct supervision.
- Must be able to work 6 or more consecutive days including overtime, any shift, including late nights, weekends, and holidays.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- The Blender Lead directly coordinates up to 30 employees in the assigned Area(s). Carries out
coordinating responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising;
performance; addressing complaints; resolving problems and applying discipline.
Education and/or Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent educational experience; vocational school or trade apprenticeships is a plus.
- At least 4 to 5 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environment is required. Or 3 years of Zoroco Packaging Experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 55 pounds; and occasionally up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles of any kind; some areas of the manufacturing location could be extremely cold or hot. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high; some areas require noise protection.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
