Job Description
Job Summary:
A Forklift Driver is responsible for using a forklift, electric pallet jack, hand jack, or similar equipment to move material within the assigned area(s). May be assigned the movement of raw product, dry goods, or finished goods as needed. This position is responsible for following proper procedures for product rotation and flows through the assigned area(s). Responsible for all documents and procedures required for this function.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A Forklift Driver is expected to perform one or more of the following essential job functions based on the business assignment (detailed):
- Loading, unloading, shipping, and receiving warehouse items.
- Transporting materials to different locations within the facility.
- Optimizing loads to ensure operational efficiency.
- Securing loads to the machine before transportation.
- Make the Safety Inspection on electric pallet jacks / Forklifts for operating conditions.
- Compliance to SOP’s, GMPs, Housekeeping, Safety, and all other Company Policies.
- Accurate, timely and efficient workflow for all assignments.
- Perform all documentation required for the function being performed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including all dock areas, raw and finished goods spaces.
- Communicate with supervisors, clerks, production, QA and others as needed.
- GMP and HACCP knowledge & understanding of the Food Safety Quality statement.
- Support inspections with Leads to verify quality, safety and food safety.
- Employees may be assigned to perform other tasks on a temporary basis.” During the temporary assignment, the employee must still maintain compliance with all plant policies but will not be disciplined for productivity- throughput performance.”
- Responsible for actively supporting the other members of the employee’s work team including assisting with cross-training, new-hire/buddy assignments, and process support during breaks, meal periods, and other staff coverage as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities / Qualifications:
- Certified in the operation of powered jacks/powered trucks.
- Positive attitude, work ethic and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management and coworkers.
- Must be able understand and follow oral and/or written instructions in English and/or Spanish.
- Must be able to work 6 or more consecutive days including overtime, any shift, including late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds unassisted.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent educational experience; vocational school or trade apprenticeships is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
