About the Role as an RF test and automation engineer:
RF power amplifiers play a critical role in 5G and LTE macro radio base stations since they determine a large part of the power dissipation, weight and size of the unit. Modern digital-predistortion (DPD) is used to significantly improve the efficiency of the amplifier and still meet stringent 3GPP emissions specifications. This role involves making output power, emission and efficiency measurements on various power amplifier line-ups to characterize performance against 3GPP requirements. It also involves selecting the optimum DPD parameters.Today most of the RF measurements are made manually. Many of these measurements need to be automated.
Willing to provide training and guidance to a motivated engineer.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Test GaN and LDMOS power amplifier circuits for high-powered macro radio base stations to ensure they meet requirements for output power, efficiency, emissions, and evm under different waveform conditions.
- Optimize DPD models/parameters for the best amplifier performance.
- Automate repetitive measurements and report formatting.
- Ensure the test bench and amplifier setup remain calibrated.
- Collaborate with the power amplifier designer.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Self-starter with strong communication and collaboration skills
- Engineering class or work experience with RF lab equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
- Engineering class or work experience with Python or a similar programming language.
- Engineering class or work experience with 5G and LTE radio access technology.
- Ability to read and understand schematics and layout.
- Any experience with automation is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
