SMT Operator

We excel in delivering flexible and high-performance solutions with excellence from prototype to production. XLR8 EMS is looking for a Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Operator onsite in San Clemente, Ca.
The SMT Operator will be responsible for both automated and manual surface mount manufacturing. The SMT Operator will be responsible for set-up, operation, and adjustment of SMT equipment. This role will also be responsible for quality assurance and documentation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain surface mount technology (SMT) equipment to assemble electronic components on printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Follow IPC 610 standards to ensure all assemblies meet quality specifications.
- Utilize power tools and equipment for soldering, assembling, and fabricating electronic components.
- Perform electrical wiring tasks as required, ensuring proper connections and functionality.
- Use ohmmeters and other testing devices to verify circuit integrity and functionality.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues related to logic controllers and production processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, always adhering to safety protocols.

- Emerging understanding of the overall process and machinery

- Understanding SMT machine programming, CAD data, Centroid data, Gerber
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must have have 2 years’ experience with SMT and through-hole assembly or hands on experience as an SMT operator.
- Prior contract manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Electronic SMT machine assembly experience is preferred.
- Experience with component packages is preferred.
- Ability to read set up lists is preferred.
- Knowledge of electronic components is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, familiarity and comfort working with computers is required.
- Mechanical skills are preferred.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Must be able to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs.
- Must be a U.S. Person per EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15.
Compensation
We offer a competitive compensation structure for this role. $25/hr.-$27/hr. Shift differential available.
