ZS’s Discovery Venture partners with clients to develop and deploy in silico approaches that accelerate the discovery of safer, more effective therapeutics. We work closely with other ZS practices, bringing hands-on scientific expertise to enhance both technology and strategy initiatives. ZS is expanding the Discovery Venture and seeking driven, curious, and creative leaders to help shape the practice area, collaborate across ZS’s R&D teams, and lead a rapidly growing global team.
BIOINFORMATICS MANAGER - ZS DISCOVERY
The Bioinformatics Manager will be responsible for contributing to the growth of the Venture by applying scientific and technical expertise to generate new Discovery opportunities, build long term trusted advisory relationships with key stakeholders in pharma/biotech, and develop & deliver solutions relevant to your client base. You will promote ZS’s capabilities in the industry, growing our client awareness and presence.
What You’ll Do
- Create measurable impact across many clients by delivering innovation throughout the drug discovery process
- Partner with ZS leaders and client service teams to sell and deliver Discovery projects for Life Science clients, including project scoping, approach definition, project management and execution, client communication, people management
- Serve as a primary day-to-day project lead, manage multiple workstreams ensuring fulfillment of project objective on-time and on-budget
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert to support teams in client project proposals, client discussions, thought leadership, etc.
- Build long term, trusted relationships with clients & internal stakeholders
- Stay current on latest research and drug discovery trends; develop Points of Views, offerings, frameworks, tools, whitepapers, etc. on discovery innovations to build firm intellectual capital and thought leadership
- Partner with other Discovery leaders to support team growth and development including mentoring / coaching junior members of the team, manage and collaborate with an extended global team of diverse skill sets
What You’ll Bring
- Demonstrated advanced expertise in biostatistics and/or bioinformatics applications, such as epidemiology, population genetics, genomics, proteomics, bulk or single cell RNA-sequencing, and/or systems biology
- Demonstrated leadership the use of in silico approaches to improve drug discovery across target and/or biomarker identification
- Passion to transform therapeutic discovery across the industry
- PhD, MBA or other advanced degree is highly desirable
- Approximately 6-8 years of relevant prior experience, ideally including professional service or management consulting experience
- Experience working with pre-clinical research clients is highly desirable but not necessary
- Record of successful and continued business development
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written form
- Strong-decision making skills and ability to influence others
- Analytical problem solving skills, with an ability to see the big picture and delve into details
- Excellent organization and planning skills
- Eagerness to learn, grow, and work collaboratively
