About the Role
The Principal Customer Quality Engineer will work with both our customers and internal teams seamlessly during NPI (new product introduction) to ramp production and support design-related quality issues throughout high-volume mass production. The Principal Customer Quality Engineer will act as the primary quality interface with the customer and all other functional teams within ZT – serving as the customer’s advocate in driving resolution of issues and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Work with the internal technical organizations and teams (such as design, assembly, and product testing) to ensure high quality products are achieved from first product release. Reviewing test plans, failure rates, focus on DFx/xFMEA/ NUDD and driving failure analysis with suppliers.
Engage in system level debug resolution that can include both FW & HW defects. Diagnose and resolve electrical issues in existing systems.
Interface with key customers to assure customer satisfaction and review requirements/lead audits to ensure products & processes meet customer specifications. Internalize customer feedback and track lessons learned regarding quality and reliability performance against customer requirements.
Manage field and customer escalations, successfully driving resolution of customer issues.
Coordinate, direct, and manage quality activities with focus on issue resolution, responsible for part approval, process control, quality assurance during NPI and advance analytics capabilities, and identifying potential risks and mitigation strategy.
Take ownership of driving quality improvements related to design throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring critical data and test telemetry is sourced from system integrators and customers.
Proactively monitor both WW factory and field nonconformance metrics – including yield and HW replacements in the factory and field, and identify & drive process improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation including 8D and 5-why’s.
Collect and analyze large amounts of data to discover product process performance trends then proactively feedback to team to drive improvements
Work with customers to clearly define factory build report expectations including frequency of reports, expected data, and response to first past yield excursions.
Become an advocate for the customer through excellent knowledge of manufacturing process, timely follow through, and customer focus
Requirements
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to organize and drive complex issues to closure in a timely manner and clearly communicate the result.
Must demonstrate excellent analytical and making data-driven conclusion skills
Strong technical system level understanding and knowledge of quality concepts, proven understanding of problem-solving tools including root cause analysis and statistical process control principles
Must exhibit self-motivation, demonstrate sense of urgency and be capable of successfully multi-tasking in a high pressure, fast-paced environment, matrix environment.
Must be capable of effectively interfacing at all levels of the organization including executive level both internally and with the customer.
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. degree in Engineering (ideally Electrical or Computer Engineering) and 12 years of experience in Quality Engineering (or a M.S. degree and 10 years of experience)
Understanding and implementing designs from technical drawings (System block diagrams & Schematic capture)
Experience in Microsoft Power BI, JIRA, and Tableau a plus
Experience in leading during quality excursions and day-to-day data analytics with focus on impacts to the customer
Preferred: Strong understanding of x-86 system architecture
Preferred: Robust technical knowledge and expertise in Platform execution
Preferred: Understanding of System-level server platforms and how each component interacts with the system
A Plus: Good understanding of hardware and system software interactions, and ability to apply this knowledge to resolve technical issues
