About The Role
The Staff New Products Introduction Engineer is responsible for leading manufacturing readiness for product launch in manufacturing. The Staff New Products Introduction Engineer’s scope of responsibility covers the end-to-end production process of new products (material preparation, assembly, and shipment preparation).
What You’ll Do
- Lead the analysis of manufacturing KPIs for new products to derive key insights into launch readiness. Drive the cross functional teams supporting NPI in making targeted improvements to design, assembly, and test processes to achieve KPI targets. Identify, measure, and analyze new KPIs as business focus areas change.
- Lead engineering change order implementation for manufacturing processes in NPI and mass production phases across all products at ZT's global manufacturing sites. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in engineering and supply chain to determine change scope and requirements; develop implementation plans with global manufacturing stakeholders to ensure successful release with minimal production interruptions
- Lead BOM optimization analysis and drive improvements with engineering teams.
- Interpret engineering specifications and translate product topographies into manufacturing work instructions.
- Coordinate first article / golden sample builds and drive resolution of technical design issues and part quality issues.
- Identify “disruptor” products and engage manufacturing engineering & manufacturing management in the development of unique processes and procedures.
- Drive New, Unique, Different, Difficult (NUDD) evaluations and provide recommendations to manufacturing engineering for process changes and tooling upgrades.
- Lead manufacturing readiness reviews which tie the key pieces of factory readiness into a stakeholder driven phase gate review.
- Set direction for junior team members in the execution of complex projects.
- Represent manufacturing in report outs to business and technical teams across the organization.
- Lead in manufacturing risk assessments such as DFM and PFMEA.
What You bring
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, or industrial preferred)
- 5 years relevant experience in an engineering role.
- Fluency with manufacturing systems and process design concepts.
- Growth mindset: you believe in continuous learning by dedication of time, effort, and energy.
- Proven ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment with changing workloads and deadlines.
- Experience in manufacturing environments.
- Experience with continuous improvement / lean programs.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
