ZTEX Construction is a heavy civil contractor specializing in earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utilities and overall project management. We are locally owned, and we are currently looking for a Human Resources Specialist. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable, professional, energetic, proactive, a collaborator, willing to learn and grow with the company, and overall be a team player.
Human Resources Specialists will recruit, screen, and interview job applicants and place newly hired workers in jobs. HR specialists will also manage Onboarding, New Employee Orientation, Employee Benefits, FMLA / MLOA, Employee Training and Development. The Human Resources Specialist assists with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department and contributes to the accomplishment of all HR practices and objectives that will render an elevated level of customer service to our employees.
Duties and Responsibilities
Daily duties will include but are not limited to the following :
- Interface with organizational leaders to identify employment needs.
- Open, review, close and update any job postings as required.
- Manage applicant tracking system, review applications, correspond with applicants, set up interviews and extend offer letters.
- Manage recruitment options and process to attract talented candidates to apply for positions within an organization.
- May conduct preliminary phone interview to evaluate candidate experience, education, and competencies.
- Contact candidate references and perform background checks as needed.
- Hire qualified candidates and manage pre-employment, onboarding, and new employee orientation.
- Maintain employment records and process legal paperwork.
- Ensures compliance with all employment laws.
- Prepares and processes all documents for new hire orientations to include E-verify, Samba Safety, Texas Attorney General, and Upshaw employee navigator.
- Complies with all DOT and DISA requirements to include all random drug testing on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Maintains badge system to include processing of badges for new hires and current employees.
- Establishes, complies, updates, and maintains high standards of confidentiality of employee files and all other confidential actions and information.
- Complete and submit in a timely manner all employment verification, unemployment, and child support requests.
- Manages benefits administration such as new hire benefit enrollment process, employee changes and benefit questions, benefit changes, premium refunds / collections, premium billing, and any discrepancies.
- Manages FMLA, MLOA, Short Term and Long-Term disability cases and claims.
- Maintain leave management, balances, and accruals.
- Manages all updates for HRIS and Payroll systems interface.

A s a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical screening. If applicable to the contract, you may also be required to submit through a background check. Must have reliable transportation to / from work, must have a valid driver's license at time of application.
