San Francisco Public Works is searching for exceptional candidates to fill this exciting and critical position to serve as the City & County of San Francisco County Surveyor. In this role, you will deliver specialized support services for the Department of Public Works. Your responsibilities include leading your team’s activities, strategic planning, development, and execution. Additionally, you will oversee all mapping division processes and subdivision projects. The role is crucial to the creation of new neighborhoods and the remaking of old ones in the City & County of San Francisco.

Minimum Qualifications :
Education :
Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience :
Four (4) years of managerial experience in the engineering and / or the survey / mapping field, of which all Four (4) years must include experience supervising survey parties and / or engineers.
Licenses / Certifications :
OR, A valid California Civil Engineer License which was obtained before 1982.
Education Substitution :
Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required education. One (1) year (2,000 hours) of additional qualifying experience will be considered equivalent to 30 semester units / 45 quarter units.

SELECTION PROCEDURE / EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS
After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process, which includes the following :
Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire (MQSQ)
Candidates may be required to complete a MQSQ as part of the employment application. This MQSQ is designed to obtain specific information regarding an applicant's qualifications in relation to the Minimum Qualifications (MQ) for this position. The MQSQ will be used to evaluate if the applicant possesses the required minimum qualifications.
Training and Experience Evaluation Exam (Weight : 100%)
Candidates will be evaluated on their relevant knowledge, skill and ability levels in job-related areas which may include but not be limited to the following. Knowledge of management and administrative techniques applicable to operations in State and Federal regulations appropriate to unit; budget development and administration. Ability to : manage, administer and / or coordinate a complex operational section; work and communicate effectively with personnel at all levels and the general public; prepare and present comprehensive reports; work strategically to develop plans impacting multiple systems in a collaborative process with multiple varied stakeholders; direct work of subordinate personnel.
Note : A passing score must be achieved on the Training and experience evaluation in order to be placed / ranked on the Eligible List.
Eligible List / Score Report :
Once you pass the exam, you will be placed on an eligible list and given a score and a rank. The duration of the eligible list will be six (6) months and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.
Certification :
The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this exam will be the “Rule of the List”.
Post-Eligible List :
Candidates will be invited to interview based on test scores and experience that most closely matches the responsibilities of the position determined from a review of the application materials.
