Zuern Building Products is currently seeking a full time Dispatch and Yard Manager to join our Cross Plains team.
Job Summary:
The Dispatch and Yard Manager is responsible for setting the example and providing direction in the operation of the lumberyard. This is accomplished by leading the yard staff to provide excellent customer service to customers and to ensure company processes and policies are followed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Plan, organize, guide and lead a safe environment
- Enforce and follow all company policies including safety
- Oversee and assist yard/customer loaders, receiving and drivers
- Oversee staffing, hours scheduling, approving PTO, etc. for the yard
- Communicate with other yard dispatchers on transfers, inventory needs and staff scheduling
- Coordinate deliveries/returns with Inside and Outside Sales Reps via Assistants
- Manage pick & confirm, invoicing orders, calling customers/contractors before leaving yard, processing of returns
- Direct contact for Contractors regarding revisions and/or additions on orders
- Responsible for inventory management and monthly cycle counts
- Maintain truck and forklift maintenance and training for the yard staff
- Manage yard cleanliness and other/yard store projects given by G.M. or owners
- Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
- Coach, counsel, and discipline employees
- Continuous communication with GM/Owners on updates, improvements, etc. as needed
- Responsible for snow removal in the yard & delegating when needed
- Maintain Saturday rotation and oversee Saturday staff if needed
- Requires High School Diploma and lumberyard experience or 2-4 year degree related to business or construction industry.
- Mathematical skills required to add, subtract, multiply, divide, measurements of square foot and cubic foot
- Strong computer skills and understanding of Zuern Building Products software platform
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds, bend, stoop, kneel, climb and reach
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Requires good oral and written communication skills in order to interact with employees and customers
- Excellent customer service skills
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and medically able to operate a Zuern company vehicles
- Must be willing and able to work out in the yard 50% of the time and inside 50% of the time
