Zulu Pods is seeking a summer intern who will work on our advanced manufacturing team in our Northampton, Massachusetts location. The selected individual will help stand up our production manufacturing capabilities for our primary POD product line. These devices are state of the art and will require implementation of advanced manufacturing practices.
We are interested in candidates who are highly motivated and have excellent interpersonal skills, recognized leadership experience and outstanding academic records in engineering. Generally, students selected for internships have completed their freshman year.
Lastly, working at a start-up is dynamic and may take on many other shapes. This also means that there will be opportunities to develop this role to suit your skills and interests, even outside of engineering.

Responsibilities:
- Process Support: Assist in operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting advanced manufacturing equipment like 3D printers, CNC machines, or robotic systems
- Data Collection and Analysis: Gather data from production processes, analyze performance metrics, and use software tools to identify inefficiencies or quality issues
- Quality Control: Conduct inspections or tests to ensure products meet specifications and document results
- Documentation: Create or update technical reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), or process flow diagrams for manufacturing workflows
- Prototyping: Support the development and testing of prototypes, including setting up additive manufacturing systems or preparing materials
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams (engineers, designers, and quality assurance) to implement process improvements or new technologies
- Research and Development: Investigate new manufacturing techniques, materials, or tools to enhance production efficiency or product quality
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment, including equipment maintenance checks
- Project Assistance: Support specific projects, such as integrating IoT sensors for smart manufacturing or optimizing supply chain workflows
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS engineering degree (open to applicants pursuing degrees in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechatronics)
- Minimum Overall GPA of 3.0
- Computer Skills: Matlab, NI-DAQ, Microsoft Tools, Labview, Minitab
- Willing and able to obtain a security clearance, thus US Citizenship is required.
- $20/hr for a 3 month term with options to extend
