Description
The Financial Counselor serves as the main point of contact for self-payor clients and as liaison between the Customer Service and Finance departments. You will be responsible for managing all self-payor balances and working towards timely payment with the client.
Responsibilities
- Verify and review insurance coverage, determine out of pocket cost, and assess deductible.
- Assist with financial-related prior authorizations needed throughout client stay.
- Identify when an authorization is required and communicate the need to appropriate staff.
- Meet with client to discuss, review, and capture signature of agreement for payment plan.
- Review and adjust payment plan as needed to ensure they meet both client needs and ZVHC policies.
- Identify overdue accounts and take appropriate action to resolve them.
- Contact clients regarding outstanding debts, missed payments, or other account issues. This includes meeting in person, via phone or portal, and email communication.
- Investigate discrepancies and take corrective actions to maintain accurate account records.
- Receive and process client payments in various forms (credit card, cash, check)
Qualifications
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of a High school diploma.
- Two to four years of experience in medical billing, financial counseling, customer relations, collections, or related positions required.
- Experience working with and understanding of medical insurance payments is preferred.
- Skills required for this job include customer service, problem solving, collaboration, communication, empathy, confidentiality, attention to detail, and personal financial & business acumen.
- Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.

Pay: Starting at $22.15 - $26.03 per hour. Compensation is based on years of experience.
