Job Title: Associate Compliance Coordinator


Department: Private Label



Reports To: Senior Compliance Coordinator


Effective Date: April 2019



POSITION PURPOSE

This position is responsible for research, analyzation, coordination and maintenance of product compliance programs for private label and owned brands. This position holds responsibility for compliance audits, management of product compliance libraries and test reports/BOM maintenance and preventative measures as needed.


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Analyze and reports on the results of safety, quality and regulatory compliance testing and inspections.

  • Determine & provide garment care instructions for all adopted styles in all divisions


  • Document compliance by recording test results, preparing investigative reports if needed, and maintaining product compliance databases


  • Review seasonal product assortment and assign safety, regulatory, and specialty testing as required.


  • Review, track, document and follow-up on test results as required to ensure compliance with Zumiez Product Safety Regulatory Requirements


  • Work in alliance with compliance team & corporate counsel to assist with the any legal product compliance issues


  • Investigates and resolves product compliance problems, questions and complaints received from other units of the company, customers, government regulatory agencies, etc.


  • Review and approve testing results and labeling requirements in accordance to the TAC to mitigate risk and maintain delivery


  • Update current policies, procedures, and documentation for product compliance as directed by compliance team management


Weekly review of missing tests/BOM discrepancies, and trouble-shooting PLM linking issues in a timely manner to maintain development calendar/TAC.

Main contact for Trim library maintenance, Test report/CC/MCC issues, TP upload tool and PLM

  • Oversees input of testing requirements, fiber content and CC code in PLM for all assigned categories


  • Assist with other projects, responsibilities or deadlines as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

2-4 years' experience in Product Compliance related field, with an emphasis on apparel softlines (knits and wovens), accessories and hardgoods.

  • Must have working knowledge of textile sciences such as fabrications, characteristics, performance and textile compatibility.


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Outlook and PowerPoint. Intermediate or Advanced Excel skills is required


  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented, data driven, self-starter


Working knowledge of: labeling/safety requirements under the Consumer Product Safety Act, REACH, CPSIA, the Wool Products Labeling Act, Textile Fiber Products Identification Act, Hazardous Substances Labeling Act, Flammable Fabrics Act, Federal Trade Commission Act, including the care labeling regulations issued pursuant thereto, FTC Guidelines, Trade Practice Rules and Regulations, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency, in addition to any applicable State regulations (e.g., California Proposition 65)

Ability to find solutions, work collaboratively across business functions and teams, and interact with and represent the company with government regulators

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to sit in stationary position in an office environment for extended periods of time and work on a PC without limitations


  • The person in this position frequently communicates with internal teams. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
