Position : Assistant Coach
Job Summary : The Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the head coach in organizing and supervising the sports program. They must have previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport and possess a deep understanding of the technical aspects of the sport. The Assistant Coach serves as a role model for student athletes and assists in their development of character, self-discipline, and self-confidence. They work closely with the head coach, athletic director, and principals to achieve the objectives of the sports program.

Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assist the head coach in implementing the athletic policies.
- Stay knowledgeable about system, state, and league regulations and ensure consistent implementation and interpretation among the coaching staff.
- Understand and follow the proper administrative line of command, referring requests or grievances through appropriate channels. Attend required meetings.
- Collaborate with the head coach to establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by the coaching staff.
- Design conferences, clinics, and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of the overall program.
- Train and inform staff, encouraging their professional growth through attendance at coaching clinics according to policy.
- Delegate specific duties, supervise their implementation, and evaluate all assistant coaches at the end of the season.
- Maintain discipline, address grievances, and foster morale and cooperation among the coaching staff.
- Assist the athletic director in scheduling, transportation arrangements, and requirements for tournaments and special events.
- Prepare for scheduled sport events or practices, coordinating with maintenance and school employees to ensure proper facility usage.
- Provide documentation to fulfill state and system requirements related to physical examinations, parental consent, and athlete eligibility.
- Safeguard and maintain assigned equipment sites, ensuring proper care and protection.
- Provide recommendations to the athletic director regarding policy, method, or procedural changes.
- Mentor student athletes to promote the development and demonstration of character traits such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
- Pay attention to student athletes' grades and conduct, offering guidance and support as needed.
- Provide assistance, guidance, and safeguards to student athletes during practices, games, and travel.
- Communicate training rules and any unique sport regulations to each participant.
- Develop and implement programs and policies for injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
- Complete paperwork for all disabling athletic injuries on the required forms and submit them to the athletic office within 24 hours.
- Direct student managers, assistants, and statisticians as needed.
- Assist in determining discipline measures and procedures, including due process, when necessary. Communicate with parents regarding student athletes who are dropped or become ineligible.
- Support student athletes in their college or advanced educational selection process.
- Participate in the budgeting process by establishing requirements for the upcoming season. Provide recommendations on equipment guidelines.
- Account for all equipment and collect the cost of any lost or unreturned items. Coordinate equipment issuance, storage, and reconditioning. Maintain inventory records.
- Ensure proper marking and identification of all equipment.
- Monitor equipment rooms and coaches' offices, authorizing access and equipment requisition.
- Enforce restrictions on student athletes' access to authorized areas of the building at appropriate times.
- Inspect locker rooms before and after practices and games to ensure general cleanliness. Maintain specific sport equipment.
- Secure all doors, lights, windows, and locks before leaving the building if custodians are not on duty.
- Instill in each player a respect for equipment and school property, emphasizing care and proper use.
