Summary
Supports the Meat & Seafood Manager in providing leadership and direction to department associates. Displays a passion for food, builds strong, effective teams, and delivers exceptional customer service. Along with the Meat & Seafood Manager, is accountable for the financial performance of the department, including achieving sales, gross profit, and shrink reduction goals. Creates an inspiring customer experience by ensuring excellent customer service and providing high-quality, well-merchandised products for our customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience through outstanding service, providing immediate and undivided attention to guests.
- Manage inventory, order products, ensure freshness, and maintain ample supply and variety.
- Achieve sales, margin, expense, and labor targets.
- Effectively multitask and independently manage time, adjusting priorities based on departmental needs.
- Ensure food quality, freshness, and presentation meet company standards.
- Collaborate with other departments for cross-merchandising opportunities.
- Work cooperatively and positively with co-workers and supervisors.
- Communicate departmental concerns to the Meat & Seafood Manager.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work environment.
- Keep all cases, shelves, and displays clean, properly stocked, rotated, and accurately priced with appropriate signage.
- Adhere to food safety and health regulations, including sanitation, safe work practices, weights, and measures.
- Operate, maintain, and clean all equipment safely and properly.
- Monitor and maintain sanitation and cleaning checklists, reporting all injuries and accidents to the Store Director.
- Assist in creating and implementing new food items and departmental programs, as well as company promotions.
- Maintain shrink logs, food safety logs, and transfer logs as required.
- Conduct scheduled inventories in collaboration with the Meat & Seafood Manager.
- Perform all duties of a meat and seafood associate, including cutting meat and seafood to company standards.
- Adhere to company rules and policies.
- Educate customers on the differences between company products and conventional store offerings.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage a team of associates in the Meat & Seafood department.
- Train department associates in proper product handling, storage, rotation, packaging, stocking, equipment operation, and display building.
- Establish break schedules and ensure all necessary breaks are taken.
- Mentor and develop team members to achieve personal and departmental goals.

Education & Experience
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a journeyman meat cutter in a retail setting.
- Seafood experience is a plus.

- Strong communication skills to present information effectively to managers, vendors, and customers.
Mathematical Skills
- Basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
