While the model provides a high level of flexibility and autonomy, occasional circumstances requiring in-office attendance should be expected.Zurich North America has an outstanding opportunity for a talented attorney to serve as Employment and Litigation Counsel in the Corporate, Transactions and Governance Team of our prestigious Corporate Law department located out of our headquarters in Schaumburg, IL.The Litigation and Employment Counsel will offer legal guidance on various HR-related business, legal, and regulatory concerns, addressing corporate policy and compliance issues, and will be responsible for managing litigation. Specifically, the candidate will work with outside counsel to effectively manage and resolve employment-related and other litigated matters, including managing discovery, drafting / reviewing pleadings and dispositive motions, and representing the company in mediations, arbitrations, and other negotiations. In addition, the Litigation and Employment Counsel will partner with key internal stakeholders to advise on all facets of the employment life cycle, including recruitment, hiring, discipline, terminations, restructuring, outsourcing employment matters, wage / hour issues, misclassifications, investigations, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, drafting employment-related / benefits contracts, non-competition / non-solicitation matters, and drafting employment separation agreements.This is a very fast-paced and hands-on position, requiring a high degree of self-motivation and ability to interface with various groups of business stakeholders and leaders.Must be able to work independently and have own areas of responsibility under general supervision.Must have solid analytical skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities.Must be business-oriented, flexible, and open-minded.Must have excellent interpersonal skills.Basic Qualifications : Juris Doctor and 7 or more years of experience in the Legal areaANDMember of the BarPreferred Qualifications : Demonstrable litigation experience, including managing complex discovery matters, gained through either private practice or in-houseExperience in employee benefit matters, including ERISA and executive compensationInsurance industry experienceKnowledge of claims handling process(es)Previous in-house experiencePC literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Lexis or WestlawStrong organizational and analytical skillsAt Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. In compliance with local laws, Zurich commits to providing a fair and reasonable compensation range for each role. The proposed salary range for this position is $154,500.00 - $269,400.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.As an insurance company, Zurich is subject to 18 U.S. Code § 1033.A future with Zurich.
