The ideal candidate will be able to engage in the practice of law, at all times in compliance with the ethical standards as established by the national / local area of practice.The selected candidate will perform duties encompassing all aspects of insurance defense, including : Initial investigation and legal analysis and advicePreparing and filing legal pleadings and documentsPerforming legal researchPreparing for and conducting pre-trial discoveryPreparing for and aggressively handling hearings and trialsConducting post-trial activities where appropriateWe look for demonstrated case analysis ability and a track record of proven trial and negotiation skills, along with the ability to work independently and without substantial supervision. The successful candidate must have strong computer skills and be able to handle remote team-based work which requires them to use video conferencing, task assignments and other computer-based systems.Basic Qualifications : Juris Doctor and 5 or more years of experience in the Litigation areaMember of the Texas State Bar in good standingExperience with Microsoft Office and AdobeExperience working with Lexis or WestlawKnowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance defense litigation legal environmentKnowledge of the law and procedurePreferred Qualifications : Experience with insurance industry claims and general commercial litigationMust be well organized with good analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, proactive approach to file handling and caseloads, and able to work independently as well as within a team environmentAbility to budget costs and calculate exposure for clientsUnderstands the staff counsel function and role in overall businessExperience with working in a paperless environmentExperience in a remote working environmentAs an insurance company, Zurich is subject to 18 U.S. Code § 1033.A future with Zurich.
