Zurich North America is currently looking for an Actuarial Technical Specialist II OR III to join our to join our growing Finance Actuarial - Data Visualization and & Actuarial Analytics team out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, IL.
This role will be filled at either the Actuarial Technical Specialist II or III level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.
Zurich North America Finance Actuarial is dedicated to providing comprehensive reserve analysis, loss forecasts, rate monitoring, and advanced explanatory tools and models to support ZNA. We are seeking a motivated individual to assist with the upkeep and enhancement of our actuarial-specific VBA tools, which are essential for performing reserve studies and delivering valuable insights.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and organize data for loading into internal reserving tools.
- Update internal tools for quarterly analysis purposes.
- Meet stringent deadlines consistently.
- Address questions and troubleshoot issues related to the tool suite as they arise.
- Collaborate closely with the Data Visualization team to ensure seamless data flow to relevant dashboards.
- Adhere to best practices for model development and thorough documentation.
Basic Qualifications:
Actuarial Technical Specialist II:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area AND
- Experience applying quantitative concepts.
- Experience communicating analysis results
OR
Actuarial Technical Specialist III:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area AND
- Knowledge of insurance products and operations.
- Experience applying quantitative concepts.
- Experience communicating analysis results.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong VBA, Excel and SQL skills, programming background
- Proficient with other programming languages such as Python or R
- Experience working with reserving actuaries and ResQ
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The combined salary range for this position is $58,700.00 - $140,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Actuarial Technical Specialist II is $58,700.00 - $96,200.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. For the Actuarial Technical Specialist III is $85,500.00 - $140,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
