Captives Market Facing Underwriter II

Zurich Insurance is currently looking for a Captives Market Facing Underwriter II for our Group Captives Team in our Schaumburg, IL or Addison, TX offices. As one of the leaders in this space, we work together with the largest captives consultants in the U.S. to deliver a wide range of services to member-owned, agency and other (fronted) captives. Currently about 10% of travel is required for this position.

The Captives Market Facing Underwriter II is responsible for:

• Reviewing new business submissions and underwriting them to determine captive exposure eligibility, satisfactory risk control practices, pricing adequacy, and coverage offerings.
• Re-underwriting of existing business to document and address any changes that have taken place on the account since last reviewed
• Underwrite endorsement requests and account changes
• Consult with Zurich inter-disciplinary functions throughout the policy life cycle (e.g., audit, reinsurance accounting, technical underwriting, etc.)
• Ensure reinsurance (captive) documentation is in place
• Represent Zurich at captive board meetings while engaging with customers, distributor partners and captive service providers
• Communicate account and captive demographics both internally and externally to stakeholders (e.g., periodic updates on captive or account loss performance, appetite mix, coverage issues, etc)

Basic Qualifications:

Captives Market Facing Underwriter II:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
  OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  AND
• Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines
• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
• Experience with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read and understand coverage forms
• Strong Analytical Skills
• Experience in underwriting captives or construction accounts

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Other rewards may include short term incentive bonuses and merit increases. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. The salary provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $94,000.00 - $139,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
