Loss Sensitive Underwriter (Senior or AVP)

Zurich is currently looking for an experienced Loss Sensitive Casualty Underwriter to join our Middle Market Complex Casualty Underwriting team in the Midwest. We are open to hiring talent in Chicago, St. Louis and / or Kansas City and are looking for someone who has established relationships with Brokers in the Midwest. Travel to the Chicagoland area will be needed for this position. This is a technical and market facing role working with our complex / loss sensitive casualty products and is a great opportunity to join an expanding team.

While this position will be based out of one of our office locations, you will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis (or remote if not located within commuting distance to one of our offices within the region). You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents. This role will require you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and brokers.

This role will be filled at either the Senior or AVP underwriting level.  The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Our Underwriters are market-facing with objectives focused on profitable growth and superior service to our broker partners and customers and are responsible for :

• Generating, underwriting and analyzing domestic Complex and Loss Sensitive Casualty business
• Market facing and production activities
• Complying with underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
• Developing and maintaining agency and broker relationships
• Working within broad limits and authorities on complex assignments

The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The combined salary range for this position is $115,000.00 - $205,000.00.   The proposed salary range for the Loss Sensitive Complex Casualty Senior  is $115,000.00 - $165,000.00 with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%. F or the Loss Sensitive Complex Casualty AVP is $150,000.00 - $205,000.00 with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
