Zurich North America is hiring an experienced Private Equity Underwriter to join their team in the Chicago, IL office. The Private Equity team has delivered double-digit growth over the last four consecutive years, and they strive to exceed that growth in the years ahead. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Middle Market space and be able to grasp the unique challenges of various industry segments and individual customers.
Job Summary
This is a hybrid working opportunity based out of the Chicago, IL office. As a Private Equity Underwriter, you will serve as a customer advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their unique risks and offering the best end-to-end solution for their Middle Markets Private Equity insurance needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, partners, and customers across all industries in support of business objectives.
- Leverage your Private Equity underwriting acumen across risk assessment, exposure evaluation, and pricing to generate and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal business.
- Work collaboratively across business units, including but not limited to; claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting.
- Empowered to use your technical underwriting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to grow and develop relationships with preferred distribution partners in an assigned territory.
Requirements
The Senior Level requires High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area. OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area. OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area. OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
The AVP Level requires High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area. OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area. OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area. OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree
- Established relationships with Private Equity broker partners
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office experience
