About the Opportunity
We are excited to offer a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Underwriter - Middle Markets Division to join our team. As a senior member of our underwriting department, you will be responsible for leading teams and mentoring junior underwriters in developing and maintaining relationships with brokers, partners, and customers across various industries in support of business objectives.
You will leverage your extensive knowledge of middle markets insurance to assess risks, evaluate exposure, and price policies accurately. Your expertise will help us grow and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal business. Additionally, you will work closely with colleagues from claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting to gain a deep understanding of the industry.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership, technical underwriting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, allowing them to build strong relationships with preferred distribution partners and drive business growth in assigned territories.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead teams and mentor junior underwriters in developing and maintaining relationships with brokers, partners, and customers
- Leverage expertise in middle markets insurance to assess risks, evaluate exposure, and price policies accurately
- Collaborate with colleagues to gain a deep understanding of the industry

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area OR High school diploma or equivalent and 10 years of experience in claims or underwriting support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 3 years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 8 years of experience in claims or underwriting support area
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
