What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Actuary or Senior Actuarial Analyst position at Zurich North America?
Zurich North America is looking for an Assistant Actuary to join our growing Finance & Actuarial Advanced Analytics team out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, IL. While this position will be based out of our Schaumburg Headquarters, we are offering the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely. You will collaborate with your manager to set a schedule that supports you, your customers, and the team.
Zurich North America Finance & Actuarial supports actuarial reserving by providing in-depth reserve analysis, loss forecasts, rate monitoring, and leading-edge explanatory tools and models. In this role you will assist with the creation and maintenance of actuarial specific predictive models which enable deep dive analysis to better understand the underlying drivers of performance and make the actuarial reserving process more efficient and more insightful.

You will be responsible for the following in the Senior Actuarial Analyst I role:
- Work with large sets of data and employ a range of statistical techniques to analyze claims data and claim development
- Assist with the production, implementation, and evaluation of advanced reserving models to assist in the allocation of IBNR
- Support the ongoing diagnostics and insights to aid in reserving analyses
- Work closely with the Data Visualization team to help tell a story and improve transparency of the models to key stakeholders
- Assist with the development of ad-hoc models to support Finance Actuarial
- Help employ best practices for model development
- Business Travel, as required
- Extended Hours during Peak Periods, as required
- Pass Applicable Actuarial Exams, as required
- Regular Predictable Attendance
Basic Qualifications:
Senior Actuarial Analyst:
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree OR
- Bachelors Degree AND
- Successful completion of 5 or more actuarial exams (applicable to FCAS designation or equivalent international certification) with 2 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area OR
- Successful completion of 3 or more actuarial exams (applicable to FCAS designation or equivalent international certification) with 3 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
Assistant Actuary:
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree OR
- Bachelors Degree AND
- 3 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area AND
- FCAS or equivalent international certification
