Role responsibilities
- In this position you will join the Roads Infrastructure group within our Global Design Centre located in Cape Town. Here you will play an integral role in our roads team providing quality design deliverables and solutions whilst continuously developing our roads design capability and digital eminence
- In this position you will play a key part in technical delivery, be responsible for line management (typical tasks such as performance management, workload management, task delegation, team mentoring and motivation, etc.) and jointly responsible for the roads and highways team performance. Furthermore, this role will require a strong focus on technical delivery typically in the fields of:
o Roads and highways geometric design and 3d modelling (LOD≥300) thereof. Typical software packages used includes Bentley Openroads, Autodesk – Navisworks and Civil 3d, QGIS, and Google Earth.
o Geometric design analyses including vehicle tracking, sight distance verification, aquaplaning, operational speed modelling, geometry-dependant vehicle stability – and performance analyses, etc.
- With a focus on infrastructure projects in Middle Eastern region, we are actively recruiting for those passionate about working collaboratively and building on technical knowledge
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in making a difference in our business, to the wider community and providing a winning service to our clients
- Providing innovative design solutions through a safe systems design approach
- Engage your skills in a digital environment containing diverse analysis and modelling software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks and BIM360.
- Continuously strive to improve your technical ability as well as modelling capability and efficiency
- Bring your knowledge of roads and highways design to the team and assist in upskilling the junior team members.
- Work in an engaging, flexible, and collaborative way with Global Design Centre colleagues and multi-disciplinary teams in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Minimum requirements
- Relevant qualification (BEng, BSc or B Tech) in Civil Engineering
- At least 8 years’ experience in geometric roads and highways design as well as best practice.
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with Middle Eastern Highway standards and design practice will be advantageous.
- Demonstrate experience and ability to form and nurture relationships with team members.
- Strong 3D modelling capabilities will be advantageous (OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to form and nurture relationships with team members and Clients
- Polite and professional communication skills with high levels of confidence and patience
