Zwicker & Associates, P.C. is a law firm and professional corporation that has been rendering sophisticated legal services to its clients since 1991. Zwicker provides a wide range of services to its clients in the areas of Bankruptcy, Commercial Collections, Consumer Collections and Litigation.
Zwicker is seeking an experienced Attorney to join its Legal Compliance team. The primary function of the Legal Compliance team at Zwicker is to provide advice and counsel to the firm on legal matters relating to all aspects of the firm’s practice.
The Attorney will work closely with the Vice President of Legal Compliance and senior staff within the Legal Compliance team to investigate and respond to legal threats, lawsuits, and complaints filed with government regulators. The Attorney is expected to work on a variety of matters affecting the firm’s practice and implicating various laws including, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Electronic Fund Transfer Act, ESIGN Act, state consumer protection laws, and others.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience conducting internal investigations, managing fact-finding operations, and identifying and following up on relevant information. The candidate is also expected to demonstrate the ability to apply the law to facts and make sound legal recommendations with respect to strategy or remediation. Superior written communication ability is an essential requirement of this position as is the ability to summarize and communicate findings to firm management.

Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admitted, active and in good standing with at least one State Bar.
- Minimum 2-3 years relevant experience in an in-house, law firm, or government setting.
- Law review or journal experience preferred.
- Ability to anticipate legal issues, risks and compliance needs.
- Ability to develop legal strategy and exercise sound independent judgment.
- Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret laws and regulations.
- Ability to appropriately maintain confidentiality.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- Strong interpersonal skills required.
- Knowledge of the legal and regulatory requirements affecting the debt collection and financial services industries preferred.
- Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and state consumer protections laws preferred.
- Be able to lift 5 pounds or greater
- Be able to sit 90% of the work day at times
- Be able to bend at the waist and be mobile when needed
- Be able to read and comprehend position specific documents and correspondence
- Be able to communicate in a common language with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing
- Be able to travel occasionally when needed by the most efficient means of transportation
- Be able to operate a computer, phone, or equivalent device
- Be able to complete a minimum of a 40-hour flexible workweek schedule
