Job Objective
Develops, administers, and coordinates all aspects of the company's chemical processes. Develops new product concepts including proprietary blends using both products and co-producer products. Compiles application information and supports Operations, Marketing and Sales activities.
Job Responsibilities
- Chief Deputy Chemist position with broad range of duties, including new materials development, new product development, customer interface, project management.
- Collaborates with the Chief Scientist, CEO, Board of Directors, and other officers to ensure scientific findings or developments are published and shared in a strategic manner.
- Keeps current on new developments and advances within the industry and plans for future upgrades and organizational changes.
- Keeps abreast of government regulations applicable to systems operations and ensures corporate compliance.
- Self-directed and self-managing. Able to track multiple priorities, identify needed activities and task and carry them through to completion with little oversight.
- Effectively communicate with all levels within the organization to identify needs, solve problems and product results that impact the business in a positive manner.
- Test specific samples from Field Operations to determine the best method from our products that would be useful in solving the specific need.
- Provide problem solving and technical support during projects as needed.
- Establish a working knowledge of customer processes, contaminants and chemical application through study and field work. Be able to trace process flows in the field.
- Competent in the field testing for Benzene, H2S, LEL and other contaminants.
- Responsibilities also include the critical evaluation of laboratory and field work and the presentation of these results in a clear and concise manner.
- This position requires teamwork to integrate material synthesis, processing and performance testing to develop commercial products and technologies. Close interactions with customers, including travel to customer sites, and outside technology organizations is expected.
- Provide company management with proactive guidance on future research directions.
- Must be able to convey chemical knowledge to operations / plant / mechanical staff (non-technical individuals).
- Partners with Marketing to develop content for technical presentations & workshops.
- Maintaining up-to-date awareness of activities, industry trends & government regulations, new business markets, competitor product chemistries.
- Keep abreast of government regulations applicable to systems operations and ensures corporate compliance with regulatory bodies such as REACH / CEFAS / TSCA.
- Provides chemical training on technology for new hires and advanced levels of company personnel in Operations, Sales, Planning and Safety.
- Interface with blender on product-related issues.
- Files Invention Disclosures & other intellectual property documents for new technology developments.
- Develops initiatives and interpersonal relationships within all levels of the organization to foster team culture.
- Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.
- Assist organization to prepare manuals, training and technical publications.
- Treating all employees and customers with dignity, respect and courtesy.
- Work within a team environment supporting open and honest communications pursuant to furthering the business goals.
- Participate in trade shows as needed.
- Mentors sales staff & field staff on product chemistry, product usage, and chemistry principles / issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
