A Billing Director will engage with the Billing, Claims and Payment Entry Managers to ensure receivables operations maintain an orderly cash flow for the department. This role will be responsible for enforcing and streamlining billing policies and procedures.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- New Hire On Boarding & Staff Training
- Provide a seamless on-boarding experience from New Hire Orientation (NHO) into your department, including a structured on-boarding plan for at least the first week in the department.
- Report your team’s training needs to your direct Supervisor regularly to ensure additional support and resources are provided in a timely manner.
- Leadership
- Model aligned leadership behavior, communicating with utmost professionalism at all times, and following all company policies/process without exception.
- Observe, document, and report all occurrences of employees when there is non-compliance with company policy, process, or following appropriate chain of command.
- To oversee the billing, claims, and payment entry teams, ensuring patients, clinics and reps receive responsive communication, timely resolutions, appropriate payment settlements, as well as efficient and effective resolutions with insurance billing.
- Work closely with other Directors to collaborate on customer care.
- Manage Billing, Claims and Denial Management Team Leads and caseworkers to meet daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
- Ensure all Open File Reports are worked regularly and with accuracy/quality.
- Provide feedback to Managers and Team Members. Communicate these as opportunities to improve handling of customer transactions and increasing company revenue (improve collections per file). Also, provide every team member with weekly feedback regarding productivity, quality of work and willingness to follow company policies.
- Ensure teams are submitting claims in a timely fashion to insurance company for all products and services.
- Develop and implement policies that align with Company strategy and are relevant to billing patient insurance as well as patient portion of services provided.
- Develop and implement efficient systems, properly written forms/letters, and effective processes.
- Identify and resolve problems and inconsistencies in any Billing, Claims or Denial Management process/policy as well as issues with billing trends (including rejections, denials and payment trends).
- Review and authorize patient account write-offs only as needed. Submits refund requests to COO for review.
- Lead the Billing Department in identifying and negotiating contracts with insurance companies relevant to the company’s overall strategy.
- Generate relevant reporting for top management as well as for the individual teams in the billing department.
- Analyze trends and initiate improvements to optimize collections.
- Perform and assist in financial analysis and internal audits of revenue cycle issues, such as coding, EOBs, contracts, adjustments, etc.
- Supervise department personnel, including hiring, onboarding, training, disciplining, evaluating and morale issues.
- Interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
- Monitors volume indicators to ensure adequate staffing.
- Comply with federal, state, and other regulations for proper insurance billing, HIPPA compliance, etc.
- Be present/visible in the home office a minimum of 40 hours per week (5 days/week (M-F), 8 hours/day). Exceptions to this need prior approval from your direct Manager/Supervisor.

Minimum Job Qualifications (unless otherwise noted):
- 3 years prior billing and customer service experience with preferred DME’s (Durable Medical Equipment) for home use
- 3 years of supervisory or management experience
- Knowledge of HIPPA and patient confidential information
- Strong negotiating skills and experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
Education:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree or higher preferred
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Fast-paced, professional office environment with frequent interruptions.
- Proficient use of office equipment including computers, copiers, fax machines and telephones.
- Ability to communicate effectively via spoken, written and electronic means.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
