Pay is depending on experience. Minimum is $73,174.00 annually, $2,814.38 bi-weekly

Position Summary

The Lending Branch Manager provides leadership and direction for overall branch and lending activities to ensure established goals related to customer service, employee satisfaction, sales, and referrals are achieved. Represents Northrim Bank in the local community by being actively involved in multiple organizations/functions outside of the Bank, and participate in CRA activities within the lending area. 

 The following duties are intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manage and grow a loan portfolio. Typically manages a market area with up to $50MM in assets (LBMI), or greater than $50MM (LBMII) or is expected to reach this asset level within a reasonable period. 
  2. Analyze requests for credit and approve/recommend/deny within defined lending authority.
  3. Manage loan portfolio to minimize bank losses.
  4. Establish customer service performance measures, monitor results and administer results focused changes in order to consistently exceed customer expectations. 
  5. Monitor and direct service quality efforts to ensure Superior Customer First Service standards are maintained with appropriate levels of training, staff awareness and recognition. 
  6. Possess expert knowledge of bank products/services in order to provide proper advice to customers.
  7. Create, manage and analyze customer retention, cross sell ratios and deposit/loan growth goals.
  8. Implement methods to improve sales results, customer service and productivity.
  9. Routinely make business development and retention calls to both prospective and existing customers. 
  10. Direct and manage account acquisition strategies within the branch to ensure staff stay enthused, focused, motivated and consistently achieve the assigned sales and retention goals. Support marketing campaigns and make appropriate referrals.
  11. Research, develop and recommend enhancement and improvement strategies to the department operating plan to improve the customer experience, foster employee development and create operational efficiencies/productivity. 
  12. Responsible for proper opening and closing of the branch, security, physical control and maintenance of the facility including equipment, supply inventory, control and accountability of cash and timely completion of various reports and certifications. 
  13. Conduct analysis relating to transaction volume and productivity to schedule staff accordingly.
  14. Ensure currency and coin is being controlled in accordance with security guidelines and branch limits.
  15. Manage cost controls and fee waivers.
  16. Actively participate in assigned bank committees.
  17. Complete online, written and in-person compliance training within established timeframes.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include scheduling hours, interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conduct performance evaluation; working with HR to address work related issues. 
  • Ensure employees complete compliance training within established timeframes; understand and implement compliance requirements applicable to their positions.

Qualifications 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. Four years of related work experience may be substituted for a degree. 
  • Related military education/experience may be used as a substitute for education or work experience.

Experience

  • Five years of experience to include progressive responsibility in related financial institution branch and direct lending experience required to include:
    1. Two years financial institution management experience.
    2. Two years direct commercial, commercial real estate, or construction lending experience.

Licenses & Certifications 

  • State of Alaska Life Insurance Producer License and FINRA Series 65 or 66 preferred.
  • This position may require accurate and current registry with the National Mortgage Loan Licensing Registry to include annual renewals and submission of fingerprints every three years, and must pass a criminal background check. 

Knowledge & Communication Skills 

  • Strong understanding of income verification, collateral, lien position/lien perfection, debt to income ratios and unsecured credit terms. 
  • Able to prioritize work, work independently and be self-motivated with a high level of initiative and accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and functions.
  • Thorough understanding of business law and practices. 
  • Able to understand technical procedures and governmental regulations. 
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis. 
  • Ability to ask questions, determine customer needs, propose appropriate products, and explain the benefits and features of each product or service.
  • Must understand and have the ability to implement applicable compliance requirements.

Analytical & Decision Making Skills 

  • Highly complex analytical ability required to independently resolve issues involving staff, customers, auditors and regulators. 
  • Based on a broad-spectrum knowledge of banking procedures, this individual’s work experience must demonstrate excellent analytical skills that are applicable to researching solutions and creating or improving procedures. 
  • Must be self-directed, able to work independently without supervision, and be able to prioritize multiple projects to meet firm deadlines. 
  • Must possess and utilize exceptional time management skills. 
  • Must be proficient with individual and group communication. 
  • Must be able to assess situations and determine outcome based on limiting bank risk while maximizing positive outcome for customers/employees.

Computer/Software/Other Equipment Skills 

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as PC, printer, fax/copier, and telephone.

Working Conditions 

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 
  • Work is performed in a professional office environment.
