Envent is Hiring an Electrical Shop Technician Near La Porte, TX

SUMMARY

The Electrical Shop Technician performs inspections and maintenance on all equipment, including performing Preventive Maintenance (PM) on all equipment. He or she has experience with electrical wiring, conduit, panel building, and instrumentation. The Technician takes primary instruction from the Shop & Fleet Supervisor and is supportive to the mission that all equipment dispatched from the yard is in good working order and that the work performed on the yard meets objectives. He or she keeps the Shop & Fleet Supervisor (or Operations Manager) informed of equipment that is down for maintenance and the status of his or her current assignment. Status updates include identification of supplies or resources required to complete assigned tasks. The Electrical Shop Technician is responsible for meeting all company policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations, and must have an unwavering commitment to environmental, safety and health for all employees and clients.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply the Company’s visions, pledges, and guiding principles to every facet of responsibilities in an effort to improve our Company.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Internal Control Policies and Procedures.
  • This position requires the ability to read and interpret technical documents, procedures and safety procedures and project/maintenance requirements.
  • Possess the skills to be an effective communicator: writing, listening, and speaking.
  • The candidate must be able to interact effectively with all levels of company management and the ability to speak effectively before vendors and coworkers.
  • The candidate must have electrical wiring experience, including panels, conduit, motors, compressors, instrumentation, and analyzers.
  • The candidate must be able to use a multi-meter.
  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret single line diagrams.
  • The candidate must be able to keep the work area clean while using equipment and tools efficiently.
  • The candidate should have basic electrical knowledge on how to size wires, breakers, etc.
  • The candidate must be proficient in the use and care of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • The candidate must be able to troubleshoot downed equipment by tracing open circuits, grounds, or other electrical issues.
  • The candidate must be able to pass all site specific facility, company, and industry tests.
  • The candidate must have a current valid driver license from state of residency and valid proof of insurance.
  • The candidate must be insurable by the Envent Corporation insurance provider.
  • The candidate must be able to pass the company’s employee physical and comply with the company’s drug testing policy.
  • The candidate understands that he or she is working in a twenty four hour seven days a week (24/7) industry and as such understands that they must be available on a 24/7 basis when required.
  • Travel: this position requires some travel (~10-15%) to conduct equipment service calls, periodic supplier visits, and for training.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent industry experience and training for the area of expertise. Industry experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The ability to speak, read, and write English is required for this position.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic mathematical skills, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing numbers are required for this position. The ability to add and subtract fractions is required.


REASONING ABILITY

  • This position requires the candidate to be self-motivated, organized, responsible, assertive, a problem solver and use a high degree of common sense.
  • The ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment, malfunctions, and performance issues is required.


ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience with three phase power systems is desired.
  • Experience with 480V power systems is desired.
  • Experience with stand alone generators is desired.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to stand and walk on a field site and shop site and communicate on a telephone or while meeting with others. The Associate frequently is required to sit at a desk, use fingers to operate a computer keyboard, reach for papers or books with hands and arms, climb a ladder or balance on a roof, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to accomplish tasks. The Associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
