Summary

Responsible for the accounting and financial reporting functions under general direction. Supervises and manages assigned area of the department.

Qualifications

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Strong knowledge in the application of governmental Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements in financial/accounting transactions.

* Strong knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices, and their application to a wide variety of accounting transactions and problems in municipal government accounting functions.

* Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to municipal government finance.

* Skilled in compiling and preparing financial reports

* Ability to implement and administer financial accounting systems.

* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

* Ability to organize assignments and work independently.

* Proven skills in use of a personal computer and on-line systems.

* Knowledge of principles and practice of supervision and personnel management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

* At least four (4) years of government accounting experience.

* Two years of supervisory experience (preferred)

* Advanced knowledge in Excel, Word and Power Point
