The Estate Planning Specialist works with wealth management teams to improve client outcomes through effective estate planning analysis and techniques. The Specialist collaborates with clients’ tax and estate advisors to ensure plans are well coordinated. The Specialist serves as the estate planning subject matter expert and aims to enhance internal competency and skillsets. The Specialist also works with clients and prospects directly to help communication related to estate planning goals, accomplishments, and recommendations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Read and review estate planning documents and develop easy-to-understand summaries for clients.
• Identify and evaluate strategies, risks, and planning opportunities.
• Collaborate with clients and their attorneys to develop and implement strategies.
• Monitor trust and estate law, educating colleagues and clients on relevant changes.
• Create content for marketing related to estate planning topics.
• Join client and prospect meetings to advise on issues and proposals.
• Lead internal group meetings to respond to client death or divorce, and establish best practices surrounding those events
• Help wealth management teams integrate estate planning needs with other aspects of client plans, including income tax, insurance, philanthropy, and business succession.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the client experience.
• Collaborate with the financial planning team to update and maintain best practices and operational efficiencies.

Requirements

• JD degree
• Minimum 5 years practicing estate planning.
• Deep understanding of estate planning strategies.
• Solid knowledge of Massachusetts estate rules and regulations.
• Must be able to review and summarize estate planning documents, as well as identify weaknesses and opportunities.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Demonstrated high ethical standards.

Preferred

• Experience with applications that illustrate planning techniques, such as eMoney, MoneyGuide, Vanilla or FP Alpha .
