Canvass Director Overview Progressive Maryland is a multi-racial political organization of working people fighting to transform our country. We elect candidates who share our values and organize campaigns to advance progressive policies and conduct outreach to voters to connect them with vital services to ensure their vote is counted! The Canvass Director is the overall lead for canvass operations in the region and is responsible for the office hitting its door and contact goals. This position reports to the Director of Campaigns. This is a full time, temporary position through Election Day 2024. Monthly pay is $5,000-$5,500 depending on experience. Responsibilities
Train and deploy a team of at least 10 canvassers per day.
Manage all turf and data
Write and manage scripts
Prepare daily walk packets
Track progress to overall field goals and make program adjustments to meet goals
Make quality control calls to voters who were recently canvassed to assess the performance of individual canvassers and the effectiveness of the script
Track all expenses and maintain up to date budget
Complete all responsibilities related to hiring and supervising managers and canvassers
Maintain office, vans or other transportation, campaign literature, and other supplies
In the event of unsafe walking conditions, lead voter phonebanks from the office
Fire ineffective canvassers
Qualifications
At least two cycles of door to door canvass experience on issue or electoral campaigns
Prior experience managing teams of 5 or more in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to progressive politics and policies
Strong understanding of VAN
Ability to work irregular hours, especially closer to Election Day
Willingness and ability to travel throughout Prince George's County and Baltimore City
