MISSION STATEMENT AND OVERVIEW
Sarah’s Inn is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals impacted by domestic violence and to ending the cycle of violence for future generations. Founded in 1980 by a group of passionate women in River Forest and Oak Park, Sarah’s Inn initially responded to the lack of support services for domestic violence victims and their families. Over the years, it has evolved into one of Chicago's largest and most comprehensive domestic violence agencies, serving 22 suburban communities in West Cook County.
With three core program areas, Sarah’s Inn offers vital support to those in need. The Intervention Program provides essential services to families dealing with domestic violence, helping them navigate crises, heal from trauma, and achieve self-sufficiency. The Together Strong Project delivers violence prevention education in schools, aiming to empower youth with essential knowledge and skills. The Training and Education Program fosters a network of knowledgeable bystanders who can intervene effectively and advocate for change in their communities. Annually, Sarah’s Inn reaches over 23,000 individuals across these vital program areas.
