We are seeking a dedicated Prep Cook to join our team at Shelterhouse to help us in our mission of providing nutritious meals to over 200 residents daily. This role is not just about cooking; it's about compassion, teamwork, and ensuring every individual receives a warm, nourishing meal.

Responsibilities:

• Meal Preparation: Prepare large meals for over 200 residents, ensuring that each dish meets our high standards of quality and nutrition.
• Donation Processing: Efficiently process incoming donations, ensuring that all food items are properly stored and utilized in meal preparation.
• Timely Meal Service: Work with the kitchen team to ensure that meal service is prompt and organized at both shelters, maintaining a steady flow of food to accommodate the needs of our residents.
• Food Safety: Strictly adhere to food safety protocols and standards, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen at all times to ensure the health and well-being of our residents.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with kitchen staff, volunteers, and other team members to streamline operations and maximize efficiency in meal preparation and service.
• Availability: Being a homeless shelter, we cannot close, so we need to make sure we have staff that are able to maintain meal service through weekends and on holidays.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a kitchen environment, preferably in a high-volume setting.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards individuals experiencing homelessness.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required.

Compensation: $18/hr
