The Butler Eagle is seeking a creative, strategic thinker to direct our brand marketing, funding initiatives and audience engagement. We are seeking a candidate who is dedicated to connecting with the community, increasing readership and driving innovation within the company.
Using a meaningful blend of print advertising, partner engagement and engaging digital content marketing, this position helps connect new, diverse audiences with Butler County’s longtime news source.
As the Marketing Director, you will also participate in our philanthropic funding efforts, joining a dedicated in-house committee in identifying potential donors, implementing fundraising campaigns and crafting proposals and impact records for funders.
The Marketing Director will work closely with newsroom, digital media, social media and circulation teams to develop, execute and optimize data-driven multiplatform marketing and publicity campaigns. You’ll take the lead in identifying target audiences; developing messaging; and planning, managing and executing promotional efforts.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Working closely with podcast producer to generate brand recognition for Butler Eagle podcasts as well as weekly content for social media, advertising and promotion
• Coordinating philanthropic efforts: identifying potential donors and grants, developing fundraising campaigns and crafting proposals
• Developing and managing multimedia marketing and publicity — supporting efforts to connect with new audiences and engage and retain existing audiences
• Maintaining, updating or establishing brand identity for all Butler Eagle products
• Designing and producing digital, print and video content for multi-platform campaigns and promotions
• Coordinating and managing community events, tours and promotional marketing
• Content writing for a variety of uses, including paid and organic social media, advertising, website copy, blogs, publicity and marketing materials, and newsletters
• Directing development of mission and vision and align with marketing and philanthropic initiatives
• Clearly communicating campaign results and insights with leadership and peers to drive collaboration and improve outcomes
• Cooperatively and productively working across departments to achieve shared goals
Qualified candidates will possess excellent design, verbal/written communication skills and the ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects.
Additional beneficial qualifications include:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in digital marketing, audience engagement and/or publicity — including experience managing digital and print marketing campaigns across platforms
• Experience with pursuing philanthropic funding, grant writing and/or fundraising
• Knowledge of journalism, podcast and/or online and print media business
• Strong digital and print design skills
• Strong writing and communications skills, including campaign reporting, philanthropic pitches, presentations, copywriting for ads, social, blogs and more including SEO
• Experience in data-driven multiplatform campaign planning, execution, optimization and reporting with a strong understanding of digital analytics
• Experience in content marketing, including newsletters, audience targeting, and print campaigns
• Record of measurable improvements in audience development and engagement preferred
• Proficiency in HTML5 and experience with email marketing platforms
Seeking candidates with experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere and After Effects preferred), Office 365, Squarespace, WordPress, and MailChimp.
Additional experience in photography and videography preferred.
