Purpose
The purpose of the Database Analyst is to administer the Blackbaud Student Information System and other databases. The Database Analyst has the responsibility of working with the administration, registrar, Communication Department, Admission Department, and Division offices to manage academic records, family information, financial data, and reports. Some of the other responsibilities of a Database Analyst include monitoring both internal and external data feeds, gathering vital documents and organizing them for the administrators in a way that is both functional and understandable, presenting the data analysis to stakeholders, and providing recommendations for improvement.
Essential Job Functions
Supports the School’s mission statement and the philosophy of the department and adheres to School policies and procedures, including but not limited to what is outlined in the Faculty and Staff Employee Handbook
Set up new users and administer permissions in Blackbaud. (Daily)
Perform software updates and handle troubleshooting with Blackbaud, Crystal Reports, and other related applications. (Daily)
Design reports and train users to maximize their use of Blackbaud. (As Required)
Coordinate the implementation of Blackbaud customization requests. (As Required)
Coordinate the processing schedules for interim and term grades. (Per Grading Period)
Work with the Divisions and Department to ensure their database and information needs are being met. (Daily)
Assist Technology Managers in providing information and reports for School Administrators. (Monthly)
Employ strong and consistent communication and coordination among the Technology team.
Exhibit a “user-friendly” attitude in dealing with students, parents, teachers, and all school personnel. (Daily)
Support of all other aspects of the Technology team on both campuses. (Daily)
Promote the highest level of customer service by completing tasks correctly and promptly. (Daily)
Serve as an in-house expert on Blackbaud’s Admission module through hands-on experience and training.
Understand the Admission and School email distribution calendar and assist in email set up, quality checks, distribution, and tracking.
Engage with the Admission team to determine which reports would best serve data-driven decisions. Set up and run reports on a regular basis.
Teach Admission Officers best practices in Blackbaud use. Source and share ongoing professional development opportunities.
Write database documentation including data standards, procedures, and systems processes.
Engage regularly with Blackbaud account representatives and participate in ongoing training, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
Manage Admission email distribution lists for prospective family communications.
Liaison with the Advancement team’s Blackbaud expert and the School’s registrar to rollover family data after enrollment and ensure overall data quality.
Liaison with the School’s Technology team to troubleshoot data, connectivity, and software issues.
Liaison with the Business Office to align the admission and enrollment modules with tuition collection and financial aid software.
Discover and recommend ways to streamline data and communications schoolwide.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Supervisor or their designee

Education
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience and Qualifications
2 years’ experience in Database Management or related experience
Proficient with Microsoft Excel
